Hello all. I am back. These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago, but the project persists. For my birthday this year, my darling sibling hath gifted me a big ball of yarn. In the first photo below, I am providing my head as reference to how big this ball of yarn is. What to do such such a size, one my ask. One ask and one answers. I answer. I do declare to turn this ball of yarn into a life sized blanket. A blanket for this life sized human.
Does anyone remember that book about knitting called, Socks for Supper? That book was freaking amazing. It has a strong knitting theme and is also a book for children. Pushing that knitting agenda. That is the way. Anyway, I recommend you put that on your reading list.
The game plan for this blanket is to use the rib stitch all the way through. I also forgot to tell you the best part about this ball is that it changes colors every couple of layers, so you'll be working on one color and then you'll get to see what the next color is. So fun! It's also a rather tricky yarn because its texture sometimes makes it so it gets stuck in certain things. For example, I will be trying to start a knit stitch and part of the yarn will come apart a bit or I'll accidentally put the needle in the wrong place. A fun challenge-- especially when I'm trying to knit fast. If I remember correctly I think I cast on like 130 or 180 stitches or so. I am too lazy to count. but it's a lot. There are too many stitches for the needle, so I have to scrunch it up.
As always, enjoy these model poses below.
